Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Game Information
|
Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the third game in the Super Smash Bros series, was released for the Wii on January 31st in Japan, and will be released on March 9th in North America.
Masahiro Sakurai, creator of the kirby series, is the game developer. Nintendo has opened an office in Tokyo specifically for the devolopment of the new game. Actual development started in October, 2005. Sakurai's development team includes 50 or more people.
There are four different ways to use controllers in Brawl. The first uses the Wii remote alone turned on it's side, the second uses both the Wii remote and nunchuck, the third is the Wii classic controller, and the forth is the Gamecube controller. The Gamecube controller is probably going to feel the most natural.
There are 35 Characters in Brawl. 20 of these characters are returning from Melee, and 15 are new. 5 characters (Dr. Mario, Young Link, Mewtwo, Pichu, and Roy) are not returning to Brawl.
There are 41 Stages in Brawl. Some stages from Melee are returning exactly as they were, some are slightly redesigned, and there are also quite a few new stages.
There are quite a few Items in Brawl. Most of the items from Melee are returning, and there are a lot of new items as well.
Full Wi-Fi support for SSB Brawl has now been confirmed by Sakurai at E3, who said it was one of the reasons why the new game was created for the Wii. You can play with random people, or people who you have registered friend codes with. Online play has a few interesting features, such as Sandbag practice while waiting for other players, a CPU takes over if a player is dropped from the game, and spectators are able to watch games. You will also be able to record a short amount of gameplay (about three minutes) and send it to friends.
