Bowser Strategies

Bowser

Overall:7

Offence:7 Defence:5 Projectile:2 Final Smash:6

Throwing:8 Recovery:3 Aerial:5 Speed:2

Bowser is one of he strongest and heaviest characters in the game. However, he's also one if the slowest. He may be hard to master, but once perfected, he can crush opponents.

  • Weight Class-Heavyweight
  • Attack Tier-Top
  • Sliding Ability-Low

Special Moves

Fire Breath

Bowser's Fire Breath hasn't changed much since the days of Melee. Press the special button to relaese flames from Bowser's mouth. You are immobile while you use this, and it only lasts a short amount of time. After around 12 seconds, it gets to it's smallest. You need to wait another 12 seconds for it to recharge.

Flying Slam

The Flying Slam is a good alternative to a smash, but not quite a throw. It's faster, but deals less damage. He can fall off a platform, causing a suicide. Unfortunatley, he has to be pretty close to his opponent to execute it.

Whirling Fortress

Bowser's recovery move is the Whirling Fortress. It's not very good as a recovery move, as it has minimal range. On the plus side, it can be used on the ground to move around. It knocks opponents into the air.

Bowser Bomb

Bowser's Down Special Attack is the Bowser Bopmb, a quick one two attack when used near an opponent. It is powerful, and does a good job of clearing opponents. On the downside, it has poor recovery time.

Final Smash: Giga Bowser

Type 1 KO Potential: 7 Rating:6

Bower's Final Smash transforms him into the gigantic Giga Bowser. He is big and powerful, but it may be difficult for him to get a KO. Focus on a Short Jump (quickly tap the jump button) and use his Bowser Bomb. After that, use either his side standard attack (the purple energy punch) or crouch down and press attack to finish off opponents quickly.

Basic Strategies

Bowser has some pretty easy but effective basic strategies. It's all about working around his flaws, because he's one of the tops when it comes to attack and weight.

Since he's very slow, try to stay close to your opponent. Once there either use a quick Flying slam, or a Whirling Fortress to build up damage. After you knock them away, follow them around, but be wary of counterattacks.

Make good use of the Bowser Bomb, it has high KO potential, and really packs a punch. In a crowded area, quiclky tap the jump button and press Down Special for a quick Bowser Bomb.

Make good use of his down smash attack, as it lasts relatively long, and is great for edge guarding. Also, when going towards your opponents for a Flying Slam or a Whirling Fortress, mix it up occasionally and use Fire Breath.

Advanced Strategies

If you looked at the chart above, you saw that Bowser's throws rock. That's where his strategy awaits. Use his throws whenever possible. The only downside is that your opponent has to be close.

Deploy the Basic Strategies (see above). However, when your opponent has a relatively low damage rate, throw him down. Then once he's knocked up into the air, run towards him and grab him again. This is known as a Dash Throw. After throwing again, follow up with an aerial attack or Whirling Fortress.

Expert Strategies

Bowser's Expert Strategies aren't very different than his Advanced. Abuse his throws whenever possible, as they rock.

When an opponent is running at you, time it just right so that when they get close enough to you, that you can give them the full effect of Bowser Bomb. Also, If you ever get knocked up into the air, use Bowser Bomb instantly, unless of course you aren't over a platform.

Bowser's back aerial attack is kinda slow, but it has pretty good range for an aerial attack. Try to use it often.

1 on 1

On a large stage, winning will be hard, especially if your opponent is a projectile user. On any stage, always follow your opponent, and literally always be on the move. Use Fire Breath to trap running foes.

Free for All

As stated above, use Bowser Bomb and Whirling Fortress to clear out opponents. Avoid using Flying Slam in a big group. Also, abuse Fire Breath in big groups. Follow up with his dash attack.

Against

If you stay away from Bowser, he'll have a hard time KOing you. If you have projectiles, abuse them. If not, roll and sheild a lot to hit and run. Eventually, go in for the big kill. If he gets too close, try to use the footstool jump to jump over him.
