Friend Code List / Secrets Page

Two updates:

First I added two new features to the Friend Code List. First, you can modify your account and add your skill level (1-9) so everybody can search for people who are around their skill level (note: a level 9 computer should be a level 4 person). The second feature I added lets you tell each person that you added them to the list. There are colored arrows next to each username, and a key at the top explaining them. Thanks to Ben for emailing suggestions for the list.

Second, I updated the Secret Features page and added three new sections to it: Modes, Target Smash Levels, and Stage Builder Parts. Going to keep adding to this page over time.

I know there haven't been many updates lately (darn Brawl!), but we will try to be a lot more active soon, now that we unlocked most of the stuff in Brawl. I'm at 96% SSE and have a few windows left to break in Challenges. I still plan on adding some more features to the Friend Code list, including search functions for skill level, people who have added you, etc.. Hopefully I can get some of the other staff to start writing content again soon too.

This is not an April Fool's day joke either! I really plan on working on it more. -_-

Edit: I added two more features. There are lights next to each name so you can tell who is online, and it lets you search for people who are online or around your skill level at the bottom

Just a quick update. In the past few days, I created the Secret Features and Character Art pages. The Character Art page is basically finished and way more complete than last time, but I still need to work on the Secrets page.

IGN's Super Smash Bros. World

Somebody from IGN's new Super Smash Bros. World site e-mailed me yesterday, so I checked their site out.

They have something pretty neat going on there. You can create a stage, put it on an SD card, and submit it to the site. Users can then download and rate each stage. There are some pretty neat stages on there, including some remakes of old N64 stages that weren't added in Brawl. You need to upload the stage to a certain folder for it to work, but there are detailed instructions on how to do that there.

All you need is an SD card, so if you have one, go check it out.

Friend Codes

I've had a few days to play Brawl, so I'm going to be working on the site again.

I added a Friend Code option to each user account. You can enter your Brawl Friend Code, and view everybody else's codes on the Friend Code List page. You need to be logged in to view this page. If you don't already have an account, signing up is extremely painless compared to most sites, you just need to enter a username and password (the email field is optional).

I'm probably going to add more Friend Code features soon, like you will be able to notify somebody that you have added them, so they can add you back. For now, it's easiest to exchange codes in the Forum's C-Box.

Also, I remember on one of the Dojo posts they mentioned that Brawl couldn't be played over long distances, and they were going to split it up into regions, but I haven't been able to find much about what regions there are (like is the whole US one region? or is it broken up into multiple?). I want to add that option as well so the list will only show users in your region, so if anybody knows anything about it, shoot me an email at BrianGeiman@gmail.com. Thanks.

Something is wrong with the list. I input my code into my profile and your name came up on the list twice, think you could fix it?

Comment by: Brian2344

Yea, fixed it. Made a simple programming mistake, didn't notice it since I only saw one name when I tested it.

Brawl is OUT!

Brawl is out! I got my copy a little after 1:00 AM, because there were about 30 people ahead if me who pre-ordered at Gamecrazy. I spent the last 2 hours playing, mostly the Subspace Emissary.

It's pretty awesome, I'm at around 25% on SSE right now, and it's pretty long, at least compared to the last Adventure mode...

I'll go into details tomorrow, getting some sleep now...

Brawl Tonight! ; Updates

Only a few hours and Brawl will be released. I hear that there are a lot of Melee tournaments being held at Gamestops / Gamecrazys around 8 PM. I'm going to be picking my copy up at 12 midnight, and probably won't be doing much sleeping tonight...

The old yurx host is down right now, so I hope it goes back up soon (going down at a time like this?!). I'm going to be putting up a redirect page on that site, and I'm working on getting all of the Affiliate / Yahoo / Google entries changed to the new domain. A few of them have been changed, but the main one, Google, hasn't crawled the site yet.

As for updates, I spent a few hours today creating Item thumbs. They are all done, but the page is a bit of a mess right now. Not much is probably get done in the next two days or so (for obvious reasons), but we'll start getting more of the Stages and Items pages done soon.

I'm in the process of redesigning the betting game right now also. It's going to be a bit different than last time. It's going to use the Rupees that you see on the User Control Panel. You will only be able to bet 1, 5, or 10 Rupees at a time, to keep the numbers from going insane and screwing up other parts of the site that use Rupees. Matches will all be 1 on 1 from now on, and they will be Brawl matches instead of Melee matches. Other staff members will be able to complete the matches, so it will actually be updated when it is supposed to now.

We have quite a few plans for the site, and we're going to be busy for a while, so come back once and a while to see what's going on!

Classic Section and Misc.

I've been working on the Smash Bros. Classic section of the site for the past 2-3 days.

I added over 80 screenshots to the section. I created the Game Modes section, which is set-up much like the Brawl Game Modes section, and completed most of it. I also created pages for each character, with pictures, but haven't added info to all of them yet.

I'll be working on the Classic Section more over time. Other staff members are currently working on completeing the Brawl Stages section. I'm going to be making thumbnails for all of the items soon, since they added most nice pictures on the Dojo I can use.
